Leroy Jennings was a multi-sport athlete at Hamilton County High School in Jasper, Florida, where I graduated in 1995. In 1997, I enlisted in the US Army and was stationed overseas. During my time in the Army, I played basketball for two different teams at US Army bases: Ramstein Air Force Base and Bad Kreuznach Army Base. My decade-long stay in Europe marked the beginning of my coaching journey. I had the opportunity to coach youth sports, including soccer, flag football, basketball, and tackle football. One of my proudest moments was representing the USA as the coach of a 10-and-under basketball team for the B2B organization, leading them to a gold medal at the United World Games. After returning to the States, I continued coaching with AAU basketball and football in Sumter, South Carolina, for the Sumter Spartans and Carolina Heat. In 2021, I relocated back to Florida, settling in Melbourne. For the past three years, I have been coaching football the West Melbourne organization, and I’m now in my second year assisting with the Bulldogs. There’s nothing quite as rewarding as having a positive impact in the lives of young men and women.
